One Door Closes Another One Opens: When Ally met Lynn

Social media has become such an innovative gateway for networking and engagement. I am a testimony of it as I have landed one of the best internships in Miami with Web City Girls. In February 2014 I competed for the title of Miss Carnaval Miami where Lynn Ponder, founder of Web City Girls attended as a judge. Unfortunately I did not win, but when one door closes another one opens. I found WCG through an Instagram picture where I recognized Lynn. I immediately followed them because I loved their concept of transmitting positive entertainment news and of course their signature look, pink wigs. Months passed by and one day as I scrolled through my account there it was a contest entry from WCG announcing they were looking for the next #MiamiPinkGirl.

The #MiamiPinkGirl would have the opportunity to interview celebrities on the red carpet, grasp knowledge about social media, meet movers and shakers from the entertainment industry and become a part of this well-respected company. Among the key things you had to do was post a 15 second Instagram video of yourself interviewing a “celebrity“ and have a positive point of view of life. I got a group of my friends, made the video and posted it that same night. The rest is history.

My interview with Plan B:

Through WCG I have gotten the opportunity to be a web reporter on the Premios Juventud Carpet, dress from renown designer Viviana Gabeiras and beauty glam by celebrity stylist Leonardo Rocco owner of Rocco Donna. Lynn has been a great teacher guiding me as I got to interview artists such as Luis Coronel, Carlos Vives, Maluma, Reykon El Lider, Erika Ender, Plan B and many more in just a time span of 3 months. I am extremely grateful to have Lynn Ponder as an example of what a top Web Blogger/Reporter/Professional should be. She exemplifies the definition of hardwork, dedication, perseverance and most importantly passion.

Another fun interview with Erika Ender:

As I continue my studies at FIU for Broadcast Journalism I will make sure to use my experiences learned here from WCG into my work ethic. For now I’m just excited to see what the future holds on my journey as #MiamiPinkGirl. I invite you to follow my adventures with Web City Girls via my Twitter and Instagram xo!
